The Last Man in the World by Abigail Reynolds

That alone doesn’t sound like Darcy, as even at his most fervent and lovesick, he never forgets himself and also doesn’t assume Elizabeth’s total reciprosity, like this novel suggests. The proposal occurs in different circumstances than in the original novel, and Elizabeth is compelled to accept when Darcy, in over-enthusiastic exuberance, kisses her and they are seen.

What could’ve been lively and spiritied and made the best of Elizabeth’s famed nature is instead weak and insipid. This variation however, falls flat to me. I thought the idea was extremely interesting – that Elizabeth is forced by circumstances, to accept Darcy’s first proposal and how that alters the course of events in the novel. Readaholic What a beautiful story Abigail Reynolds has brought to the many devoted Jane Austen fans.This is probably the third P&P adaptation/variation/continuation that I have read and I think it would be my least favourite of the bunch. Starting Fresh Thought-provoking and extremely sensual. I enjoyed the ups and downs of their love story and its satisfying conclusion. Savvy Verse & Wit This is a story to make any reader who ever loved Darcy love him even more. Bookworm's Dinner Reynolds' spin on the love story reads like a classic.

Write Meg Reynolds succeeds in delivering a passionate Pride and Prejudice detour that is entertaining and honest. If you love Austen fiction, don't hesitate to pick this one up. Fitzwilliam Darcy for anyone who loves Pride and Prejudice and can't get enough of these characters. Diary of an Eccentric I believe Reynolds did a nice job of making these characters her own, while not sacrificing Austen's intent.
